Yoga is an ancient spiritual practice which was never intended to be a commercial  fitness regime, like most things in modern society it has been capitalised and the essence lost. However despite this yoga is still an incredibly worthwhile pursuit, which includes both physical and spiritual benefits if practised correctly.

Yoga is a way of life, a pursuit which one must remain on a strict path to follow, this path does not end when the formal yoga class finishes; it is in fact a life long commitment. Yoga leads to unity of ones whole being and freedom from suffering.

Regulating ones breath is a key component to successful yoga practice as our breath in fact regulates our entire being. As stated in Genesis  2:7 “Then the Lord formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being”. Our breath is our life, take time to observe your breath, breath deeply and slowly fill your lungs with the oxygen they deserve.

When one regulates their breath they will in turn regulate their life. Begin your yoga practice by being mindful of your breath and I mean yoga practice as a way of life not confined to an exercise class!
